To quote Galvasean ; “Sure would be nice to get a really decent horror film come out of Ireland for a change.. Here’s hoping this is it.”
Very true sir. Lots of people feel this way.
And zombies feel right. They’re extremely popular in Ireland in the last few years. You can walk into Chapters bookshop (a great shop, do drop in!) and there are zombie graphic novels, comics, humour books, novels, Christmas carol books etc, all great sellers.
There’s a popular zombie survival forum on Boards.ie where people rant and rave about the books and films they love and talk (sometimes, worryingly, with great seriousness) about how to combat them.
It was a great pleasure to be informed that a good friend of mine had a part in an upcoming Irish zombie film, and to be asked to come and join in the fun. Unfortunately i couldn’t make it and be an extra, but it sure looked great afterwards.
Here he is being munched by some zombies attacking a protest in Dublin city.
Details are being kept very close to the chests of the makers, but a teaser trailer will be available on their site tomorrow.
If you read the October article the Evening Herald did about the film, you can guess that it’s lots of fun to be a part of.
It would be nice to see this film get lots of support and be popular. Only time will tell what happens, but anyone trying to make a good zombie film in Ireland has our support.
