Phoning ahead doesn’t always work…
The snowy weather is nearly gone. Thank God/Allah/Buddha/Charizard.
The country fell into a fairly ridiculous state of panic and nearly everywhere shut up shop.
Commuting became a superb pain in the ass.
Take MrFonnen:
He called JJ Kavanaghs buses, who said they where not going through his town. He needed to get to work, so he hopped on a small rural bus that brought him to another town where he caught a train.
Turns out that bus was running and was stopping at his usual stop. It came along five minutes after he hopped on the other bus.
Nerin :
Myself and my girlfriend were trying to get home from the big city on Sunday. Due to the weather (and the fact this country grinds to a bloody halt at any sign of the white stuff) we left well before the usual time.
Before leaving for the bus stop, we called ahead and a man working in the Kavanaghs office confirmed the buses were running as normal and would be stopping where we needed to go.
After a two hour wait, (the first bus was full) the bus arrives. When I get on the driver tells me “I’m not stopping there!”.
When i told him we had phoned ahead and it had been confirmed they were stopping there he simply stated he didn’t care and he was the one driving the bus.
Now usually I’m not a fan of Bus Eireann, but I have to say, their drivers were brilliant and very helpful to us. One man, who had finished his run just as we were told by Kavanaghs we’d been lied to, chatted to us and told us a few of the bus times and routes that might be of help.
We got the Bus Eireann bus as close to our destination as we could and then paid for a taxi the rest of the way. We met at least two Bus Eireann buses coming in and out of our town during the taxi journey.
Fair enough if the weather is bad and you aren’t running. But get your act together Kavanaghs and get your information right. Misinforming/lying to people will just severely piss them off with you and your service.
For the record: MrFonnen had several comments to make on the bus service, none of which are postable.
