Colbert has bug named after him
Funny man Steven Colbert has had a beetle named after him.
The Venezuelan diving beetle, Agaporomorphus colberti, has “extremely complicated male genitalia”.
Arizona State Univerity and the University of New Mexico honoured Colbert with the name.
“Last year, Stephen shamelessly asked the science community to name something cooler than a spider to honor him. His top choices were a giant ant or a laser lion. While those would be cool species to discover, our research involves beetles, and they are ‘way cooler’ than a spider any day”. Quentin Wheeler, Arizona State University.
Wiki Hoax shows up Journalists
An Irish students hoax on wikipedia has shown up in many newspapers.
UCD student Shane Fitzgerald added a fake quote to the page of Maurice Jarre, a deceased French composer.
The quote appeared in many newspaper obituaries, including the Daily Mail and The Guardian.
“One could say my life itself has been one long soundtrack. Music was my life, music brought me to life, and music is how I will be remembered long after I leave this life. When I die there will be a final waltz playing in my head, that only I can hear,”
“I didn’t expect it to go that far. I expected it to be in blogs and sites, but on mainstream quality papers? I was very surprised about,” the student said.
He explained the reason he did it was to prove the journalists are using the net as a primary source.

Windows Live Messenger: False Windows Team Message
If you were one of the many users that got a service message delivered to you today, then don’t panic.
Users are being asked to ignore the message, that was sent by mistake, and warned users they needed to change their Live Id.
No one has been compromised according to their blog, it was simply human error.

Vatican Paper L’Osservatore Romano reviews Angels & Demons, says its harmless.
The Vatican newspaper has reviewed the film , and calls it harmless entertainment.
The paper had a dig at the film too, saying it is filled with "stereotyped characters” and simply a “commercial operation”.
Yet they also complimented Ron Howard on the set designs.
Some may be surprised by the review, although i am not. In the Da Vinci Code, the church were the baddies, this time they are the victims/good guys.
Ahem…
Courtney Love has had a go at Ryan Adams on her Myspace.
The ex-member of Hole launched has claimed he owes her money, and has said on her blog she’d love to hit him.
"Ch**st ugh igh ugh Mandy Moore ick. The thought of her sticking her tongue down that filthy hatch. I might as well go watch ‘Hostel’. Smelly a*s, ick. I LOATHE that guy.”
Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore are newlyweds.
This came as a surprise to me, i didn’t know anyone was still listening to her. And oh no, I’ve talked about her now. Rats.
Horny Geeks, set Phasers to Rarrr…
Maxim.com has compiled a list of Geek Goddesses on their site.
There are some obvious ones there, and some i’ve never heard of (turns ou i’m not so nerdy after all), but there are also some pleasant surprises.
Heres a few:
Surprised. (And smiling, Ripley is awesome)
Not surprised. (i never liked tr
ansformers much, but…)
My favourite! I loved Veronica Mars, and thought Elle was an awesome (and yummy) character in Heroes. Cheerleader? Bah, who cares about Claire!
