Yaaawwn. I’ve been very tired and suffering with some wild boar flu lately.

Facebook Buys FriendFeed…Whats That About?

friend feed

Yes, Facebook has dug into its pockets and purchased the site FriendFeed. Developed by two very clever chaps (early Google employees, invented Google Maps and Gmail) the site is a very public cousin of Facebook. Yes, thats right. Whereas Facebook has been the more shy connect to people you know site, FriendFeed is (or soon to be was) a site about meeting new folk online.

But what will Facebook absorb from its newly acquired friend?

RRW has some ideas…

Since Facebook has started opening up to more public profile pages it makes sense they took on FriendFeed. Facebook has always been the more private networking site, but with the new URL dash and the opening up like Myspace, it makes sense that they’d take on something thats worked in the way they are moving. Plus it mightnt scare all the privacy people away.

Like on Facebook, when you say/link/upload something your friends can comment on it. But unlike Facebook, friendfeed sends it to all their friends, thus spreading your comment further and further as more friends of friends of friends like/comment it.

Another feature is something i’ve been moaning about for ages. Integration.

You might remember me giving Live Profiles the thumbs up for dragging in the other sites you use in a handy one page feed. Well thats what this could well turn into for Facebook. FriendFeed stays on top of things even if you rarely visit your profile, because when you Youtube or Twitter, your FriendFeed adds that activity.

Real Time Updates may be where Facebook were looking with this purchase, because its easy to see, Twitter is a pain in the ass for them.

Twitter Being Sued…

Law.com

TechRadium, a Texan emergency broadcast company is suing Twitter for “designing its system in a way that allows Twitter to be used for emergency broadcasts, Twitter has violated the litigant’s patent.”

Yup, thats right, because you can tweet that theres a wildfire, horde of zombies or one very pissed off lizard on a rampage, this company feels threatened. Or maybe it sees dollar signs…

To me, this is a stupid lawsuit. If people use a text, an i.m, a loudspeaker or a tweet to alert others to trouble, so be it.

Better not warn you of that angry green lizard attack…i may be sued.

Why So Serious Celebrities?

Tom-Cruise

Over on FreakingNews they’ve shopped celebs into Jokers.

Some of them are pretty good so check them out.

I thought it was impossible to make Tom look any scarier….

Apple vs Microsoft…Wallpapers…

Apple_Versus_Microsoft

Over on CreativeBits they are showing some wallpapers for both Windows7 and Apple Snow Leopard…

Links are : Microsoft and Apple

My opinion? Apple winning. Microsoft getting its ass kicked.

Doesnt mean i don’t look forward to Windows7 though!

In a surprising twist, I *far* prefer the Microsoft ones. Far far far. So far, in fact, I've downloaded two of them and will be putting one on my (Mac) desktop!
