Good news though, Mr.Fonnen lives here too, so hes actually got some content done.

In other announcements, im very sorry to hear about the loss of a contributors family member and i hope everything is/turns out ok with them.

Voice Chat on the cards?

According to CNN, Facebook is teaming up with Vivox (the people behind chat in Eve Online and second life), to bring users voice chat.

The service requires you to download Vivox software, but they claim once its installed it will work seamlessly.

People wont just need Facebook accounts to chat to friends, no, they will also be rolling out numbers to dial into chats.

Supposedly coming in the next few weeks, this is one to watch…

Just don’t get drunk on Facebook and sob on peoples pages…

 

Zombie Ants?! Oh Shi…

Discover Magazine made me jump when i read the words “ants” and “zombies” in the same sentence.

But cool your jets monster hunters, it turns out its helpful…for now.

Scientists are using a parasitic fly to attack fire ants.

The parasite infects the ant, makes it act like a zombie (!) and then decapitates it!

The flies “dive-bomb” the fire ants and lay eggs. The maggot that hatches inside the ant eats away at the brain, and the ant starts exhibiting what some might say is zombie-like behavior…. “There is no brain left in the ant, and the ant just starts wandering aimlessly. This wandering stage goes on for about two weeks”

The advice is based on analysis of more than 500,000 "first contacts" sent by users of OkCupid, the leading US dating website.

It scanned the text of messages to see which terms increased – and decreased – the lonely heart’s chance of earning a response.

Around 42 per cent of messages which included the word "atheist" achieved replies, significantly higher than the average response rate of 32 per cent.

References to "Christian", "Jewish" and "Muslim" boosted a message’s success rate only marginally, while mentioning "god" in a first approach actually discouraged people from replying.

Men who use self-effacing terms such as "sorry" and "awkward" are also more likely to get responses, although the words had no magic effect when used by women.

As everybody knows, Patrick Swayze sadly passed away last week.

Nerin wasnt a big fan (liked him in Donnie Darko, well hated his character, but thought his acting was great…and i liked Ghost, tell no one!) but Ms Futurecrook loved him.
