Obama Joker poster…

obama-joker-time-cover

Firas Alkhateeb , thecreator of a Obama joker poster, has said that Flickr has taken down his photo. They claim copyright infringement. Others are claiming political censorship.

The posters popped up all over the US and were edited from Firas original.

Firas original poster was this:

So far no one knows who edited his poster. Firas has now been pulled into a political debate he has no interest in.

According to RRW the image had over 20,000 while on Flickr.

Flickr won’t comment on this since a company policy prohibits them from discussing issues surrounding one particular user.

Its an interesting one. Its likely that TIME just sent Flickr a legal letter and they pulled it, but what if its true? What if the photo sharing site is taking sides?

Some points:

iLike users will not notice iLike acquisition for the time being.

iLike team will remain headquartered in Seattle.

film could be involved.

Question: What will this mean for iLike and Facebook? Van Natta: social networks will like the fact that we will make iLike an even richer experience (basically, he politely deflected the question).

Trex for sale!

Trex

Well kind of…

The third biggest trex skeleton is going up for auction.

The 66 million-year-old fossil was found 22 years ago in South Dakota and has come to be known as Samson. It is 40 feet long and 15 feet tall and consists of around 170 bones, more than half of a complete skeleton.

The last Trex skeleton that was sold earned 8million dollars.

The auction will be held in Las Vegas this October.

Social Networking Kills!…

Tasmanian devil

…Tasmanian Devils.

The devil face tumor disease is spreading rapidly because the animals meet each other through a type of social networking.

One animal gets it, meets his little friend, the little friend passes it to two of his friends and so on.

Its like natures answer to a hacked msn account/net worm. The disease is also thought to spread through bites, so its also of interest to zombie nerds. (Recently scientists in Ottawa studied the theoretical effects of a zombie pandemic)

WARNING: May be upsetting for animal lovers or squeamish folk.

A study has been set up to follow these networks and possibly find a way to save the Tazzys.

So far the study has shown female devils network more.

Heres hoping something happens soon and the solution is found. They were one of my favourite animals on my Australian adventure.

New Writers on their way

bg4

As of yesterday two new writers have been invited to join the site.

More details when they join, but we have asked both a Fortean enthusiast and a Palaentology buff if they’d like to contribute and the responses have been positive.

And finally…Prepare to be disturbed
